What is Message in a Bottle?

Message in a Bottle is an evolving, collectable, NFT art project on the Cardano blockchain. It features generative animation together with hand-drawn art, and every week or two we're dropping a limited edition set of bottles with the latest evolution of our concept. Some bottles live entirely on-chain while others are ipfs hosted, all carry a message. Each bottle has a unique drop location which we invite you to explore. There will be 51 bottles in total. Our minting policy closes April 2022*.

Bottle tracking: You can track down all the bottles dropped so far via our web app

On-chain/ipfs: Our on-chain NFTs are 100% hosted on the blockchain - that includes all code and images. So they’ll continue to exist and work as long as the Cardano network (and web browsers) exists. The on-chain NFTs do use more space on-chain though, so we balanced this by minting ipfs versions as well which require much less to be stored on chain. These are pinned on multiple servers, though (our own and 3rd-party services) so should be around well into the future too.

The Team

Befunged features the work of @shr on code and blockchain and Beambongga on design and creative direction, under the umbrella of Intropica, a web development agency.

@shr wrote his first code on a C64 in the early 80s and has been building on the web since the mid-90s. He's a long-time Ada holder (with 2017-18 PTSD) and Plutus Pioneer.

Beambongga is a front-end web developer and graphic designer with an eye for the simple, beautiful and cute, and a passion for mushrooms on and off the plate.
